Is it possible to get a South Korean E-2 visa while living in China?

Hello, all. I am a US citizen and my husband is a UK citizen. We are moving to China this week to teach English, and are excited for the opportunity!

However, our 'own' countries don't seem to like the idea that we have foreign spouses. Therefore, we may want to move to Korea at the end of our contracts in Shanghai (i.e. in one year's time). We don't want to have to go back to the US or UK for a long period of time to apply.

We've both done the E-2 visa process before, and are very familiar with the requirements. I can't find any stories for anyone attempting to go from China to South Korea, though!

Has anyone attempted to move for English teaching from China to South Korea? Was it possible to apply for an E-2 type while living in China?

(For reference, we will be living in Shanghai).

Thanks!

I’m afraid you can’t get the E-2 type. To apply for it, you should meet one of the following requirements: graduated from one of the Top 200 universities ranked by the Times throughout the world; worked for more than one year in one of the top 500 enterprises ranked by the Fortune; or graduated from a college or university in South Korea or obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher degre in South Korea within the latest three years. If you do not meet any of the requirements, it’s not possible to apply for this type of entry permit.

BTW, with the E-2 type, you can only stay in SK for less than 6 months.
