About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for 72 hour transit visa in guangzhou while my layover is 11 hours?

I'm a Malaysia passport holder.

Nazri, sorry. The 72-hour transit permit waiver policy is not yet available for Malaysian passport holders. However, the good news is that you can still make use of the 24-hour direct transfer policy. Therefore, you don't need the transit permit.

Thank you for the kind reply. It so useful. Is that mean I and my wife dont need to apply tourist type to explore Guangzhou city during our 11 hours layover? What is the procedure to apply 24 hour transit type?

Hi Nazri. I'm Malaysian and will transit to Shanghai. May i know if u succeed to use 24hrs free transit back then in your 2015 trip?
If Malaysian permitted to use 24hrs direct transit, can us go around Shanghai city to explore in 24hrs ?

If you make a travel like Malaysia-Shanghai (24 hours)- a third country or region rather than Malaysia, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. If you want to visit the city, just apply for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge at the immigration office inside the airport.
