About:Chinese Consulate in Auckland

What type of visa should I apply for??

NZ Passport holders travelling beginning of July from Auckland to LA then onto London staying 7 weeks then flying to Shanghai staying 76hours (landing and departing times) then flying back to Auckland. What kind do we require in Shanghai and when do we apply. If we apply now for single entry our 3 months will be over before we go. Dont understand the 72 hours transit. do you apply for that when arriving in Shanghai. We figure by the time the plane lands and you go through immigration etc and receive this stay 3 nights and get back to airport to leave it may only be 73 - 74 hours at the most will this transit type be okay.

Hi Brenda! The 72-hour free transit period in Shanghai is calculated from the midnight afte pssengers' arrival. In other words, you can stay for more than 72 hours actually if you are eligible for this policy. If you can make use of the policy, you don't need to apply for entry permit. So may I know your schedule to tell whether you qualify for this policy?

Thanks Doreen, air tickets to Shanghai say arrival time 9.40am 31st, we have booked and paid for hotel in Shanghai until 3rd, we have confirmed seat on plane leaving at 2.15pm on 3rd, but obviously will be checked in at least 2 hours before that.

It's OK, you do qualify the free transit policy. No need to worry.
