About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Working in China for a Hong Kong Company as a third country citizen

I have been offered a job in China by a Hong Kong Company that holds branches there. I am neither a Chinese nor Hong Kong citizen. Will I be required to apply for a temporary residents permit in China and how do I go about this.

Hi, Liz! The temporary residence permit is necessary. First, you should ask your employer to get a work license from the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau as well as an invitation letter from duly authorized unit, for example, the Chamber of Commerce. Second, apply for a Z type entry permit at the CVASC office in Johannesburg by providing your passport, passport copy, the invitation letter, work license, and an application form affixed with your recent bare-head photo. Third, after your entry, convert the Z type into a temporary residence permit at the Exit and Entry Administration of local PSB.
