About:Top 8 Reasons Why Your China Visa Gets Rejected

Work Permit & Residence Permit

Hi TravelChina,

I left in good terms with my former employer in China, they told me that they will cancel my Work Permit but that they will not cancel my Residence Permit. Am I safe to stay legally until my Residence permit expires in early fall? And can I leave and enter as before?

I will get a new job within a month, how should my new employer deal with my currents residence permit? Will my residence permit expire automatically when my Work permit gets cancelled?
Thank you so much!
Best regards,
Lucas

Lucas, you still can use your resident permit to enter and leave. It won't be cancelled when your work permit is cancelled. However, I think you may take this opportunity to apply for a new resident permit. You should acquire a release letter from your previous employer. It is required when you apply for the new work permit. After you acquire the new work permit, you can go to local entry and exit management bureau to renew your current resident permit.
