About:China Great Wall

We are basing our stay in Beijing but would like to take a day trip to the Great Wall.

what is the best way to get there and back again, we would like to spend as long as possible there in one day and not just an hour or two and preferably in the less touristy places. Also we are travelling in late june/early july so what sort of weather should we expect while visiting the wall?
Thank you

Joseph, if you prefer to visit less touristy wall sections, then you may go to Mutianyu section. You can take no.916 bus (express) from Dongzhimen to get off at Huairou North Street. There you can find a minivan to take you to the wall. It costs around CNY40 to 50. Bu you may find some other travellers to share the cost together.

Another option is to take H23, H24 or 936 (Huairou to Dongtai) on the other side of the road and get off at Mutianyuhuandao. Go forward around 3 minutes and then the ticket office lies ahead.

It's summer time when you come. It is usually sunny and hot. Please wear sun glasses and hats to avoid your sking getting hurt and don't forget to bring suncreen too.
