About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

If we fly in to Beijing from Indonesia and arrive at 5am will the 72 hour period start upon arrival?

We have found multiple websites each one seemingly with detailed semi-official conflicting information as to when the 72 hour period begins. Several sites say the 72 hours begins at 00:01 the following day after arrival and a few say it is whenever the flight is scheduled to arrive. Which one is it? thanks!

Jamie, as far as I know, in most cities, the 72 hour period starts from the midnight after your arrival, so I think it is the same case in Beijing. If you want to make your trip more guaranteed, you can confirm this with Beijing airport befor your travel.

we called the immigration dept of the Beijing airport and my partner speaks Cantonese and they said it starts from the time your flight is scheduled to arrive. yet we have seen so many sites listing otherwise. We are not sure if they would allow it or not. Rather confusing.
