To tour HK, you are exempt from visa for 14 days, so it is fine to show your passport, round trip ticket and hotel reservation receipt and the customs will allow u to enter. Sometimes, they also ask for the bank statement.

If to visit mainland China, you have to apply for a tourist visa in advance. Or you will be refused to enter at the border.
