About:Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka

It says visas are needed if transit time is over 12 hours. Is that correct? If not what should I do?

I will be travelling from colombo to Australia through Hong Kong with less than 7 hours transit time for both journeys.

Perera, according to HK Immigration Department, you need to apply for a transit type in advance before you fly. It requires your passport, completed ID1003A form, a recent passport photo and flight itineraries.
