About:China Private Visit Visa

Hi, am I able to obtain a visa on through my Wife's passport?

I want to travel to china with my wife to visit her family (Father who is a Chinese citizen) . She has family in China. her Father is a Chinese citizen but myself and my wife are South African. I have read through the above post and it seem as though we would need to apply for one of the S types but we are not certain which one. We are wanting to go up for 180 days and get a multi type. Would this be possible and what would we need to submit to the embassy?

Dean, according to your description, I think you should apply for a Q1 type for both of you. Yes, the Q1 type is for a single entry and valid for 30 days. However, you can change it into a temporary residence permit within 30 days after you enter China so that you can travel freely to China within the validity of the residence permit.

You should submit the following documents: a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport, a filled application form, a color bare-headed photo taken within six months, an invitation from your father-in-law, a copy of his ID card, and the original and photocopy of your kinship certificate.
