worried about previous visas

Hi,

Will the fact that I had several short term business types, and one "S2 Special type entry permit" affect my application for a work type now? I have a job offer in Shanghai, I have all the required paperwork and am in Hong Kong now. Will be apply for my work type tomorrow. I am a UK national. Thanks

If you keep a good record for your previous stay in China, there won't be problems. Just go ahead to do the application.

Kelvin, you mean you work illegally before? If yes and there has record related to your illegal work, it may be a problem. But if you didn’t leave record at the exit and entry administration of the local PSB, I don’t think it will be a problem.

I'm currently in a similar situation as I've been working for the past 3 years in China under Visa M. I just got a job offer and I've put this job on my resume. The employer is aware of this and they're ok with it but will the government cross reference and look into this job on my resume? I don't have anything on record but afraid if they do the digging and realized that I do not have a work permit for the past few year. The employer also suggested perhaps I can update my resume to reflect this job is from Hong Kong and I sometimes have to travel to China under Visa M to consult. But, I don't have a work Visa for Hong Kong as well. I'm not sure if I'm over worried on this matter. Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks.
