Augustin, you should apply for China Travel Permit from the Chinese embassy/consulate if your home return permit is expired. The required documents are:
1. filled appilcation form for Chinese passport, travel permit or home return proof
2. 4 passport photos (48mmx33mm) in white background.
3. your passport and expired home return permit
4. valid visa/resident permit for your stay in UK.
