About:Beijing - Ulaanbaatar Trains: K23/ K24

Beijing to Mongolia on K3

K3 runs from Beijing to ULN to Moscow. Is it possible to purchase a ticket only for the first leg from Beijing to ULN? Or does one have to purchase the full length from Beijing to Moscow?

You can buy K3 from Beijing to Ulan Bator, it is available on every Wednesday.

And how about the way back from ULN to Beijing on K3? Possible? Departure is on Sunday morning 0715hrs from ULN?

The price for this trip depends on the seat class you choose, the luxury soft sleeper is USD304 per person, the soft sleeper is USD278 and hard sleeper is USD203. For the back trip from Ulan Bator to Beijing, it is K4 instead, every Sunday 07:15am in the local time. So TCG only helps with purchasing K3 and K23 tickets via online. The back tickets need to be purchased in ULN upon arrival.

I read that the tickets are released 7 days in advance. What if we only arrive in Beijing later than 7 days before train departure? What options do we have to collect our tickets if we are not physically in Beijing yet?

We can offer the booking service for K3 and K23, but for the back trip, we suggest you to find a local agent in Ulan Bator instead. The ticket can be available only 7 days within the departure. If you book this trip from us, you need to offer us an address in China for the delivery, like a hotel or personal address. We will arrange the delivery to your address in advance directly.
