Since the emperor Wendi (Yang Jian) of the Sui Dynasty (the dynasty before Tang) adored the significance of the Buddhism, he demanded to develop it greatly. And then In Tang Dynasty, Buddhism was spread widely again.
The Taoism was the indigenous religion in China. It was seen as the national religion in Tang Dynasty. Several emperors promoted the internal reform of Taoism actively, which motivated its development.
