About:Ancient Chinese Marriage Custom

I just got married to chinese girl. Confused about the bridal payment.

I just got married, we didn't have any ceremony, just fixed documents in china. We decided to have ceremony in Lithuania. Week later i come back to Norway "i work here permanently" anyway i had a chat with my wife, she told me that i have to pay her parents "betrothal gift" other words bridal price to her parents. Can anyone clarify to me that. I have read few things about chinese traditions and customs, but somehow i didn't catch the fact about bridal payment.........

Videlce, in Chinese culture, it is always the groom bear the bridal expense. That’s why your bride told you that you have to pay her parents. Now in some area, both sides share the fees. Anyway, it is still the groom bears the most.
