Can I visit Hong Kong while in Shenzhen on a single entry visa?

I'm an Australian travelling to Shenzhen for the first time on a single entry permit (60 days) I would like to know whether I am allowed to visit Hong Kong or will I require a double entry permit to return to Shenzhen?
