I will be travelling to China with an M visa valid for 06months, but wants to learn Chinese language as soon my duty is done.

Nat, it depends what kind of policy local entry and exit management bureau implements. In some cities, Beijing for instance, you can change your M type to X type. However, the departments in other cities may require you to leave mainland to apply for the X type.
