About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa for 72 hour stay in Beijing? If so how do I get it?

I'm US citizen, will be traveling from US to Beijing plan on staying for 72 hours then will be flying to Vietnam. Can I get the 72 hour free transit? Is so, how do I go about doing this?

Yes, you can get the free transit. After you get off the plane, you can go to the 72 hr free transit service counter to apply for using the policy.
