About:China Family Reunion Visa

Does A girlfriend count as a relative for the Q2 visa type?

Hello, my girlfriend is a Chinese national living in Beijing. I would like to visit her for a few months (I can support myself with savings so don't need to work there). Would I be able to get a Q2 type?

Of course not! You must have legal documents to prove a relationship. A girlfriend has no legal proof.

but section 4 above says documents are only required for Q1 type? If documents are not required for Q2 type why doesn't a girlfriend count?

Richard, Q2 is only issued to those who intend to visit their relatives who are Chinese citizens residing in China or foreigners with permanent residence in China. As you don't have blood relationship with your girlfriend and you are not married with her, you don't meet the requirements for getting Q2 type.

And to add, a Q2 is also the relative entry permit they give you IF you're not in your home country. If you're in your home country you'd get a Q1
