Leon, your route isn't ok for 72 hours free transit in Shanghai. So you'd better apply for a L type from the CVASC branch in your area before you go to HK. It requires your passport, completed 2013 version application form, a recent passport photo, a return air ticket and hotel reservation in Shanghai.
