About:Requirements for Permanent Residence Permit

Regarding "Proof of no criminal record abroad recognized by Chinese embassies."

What does this mean? Does the criminal background has to be done with The FBI or does it have to be both DOJ and FBI? Are there any details? We were thinking Live Scan but the process is much more complicated than we expect as we do not know what ORI number to fill in because technically we are the ones who are requesting the background but the ORI is only given to agencies and not to individuals.

Will, you needn't provide both at the same time. It depends on the one who asks for your Non-criminal record. In some situation, the one got from your local police station is ok. In some other cases, you need to get FBI non-criminal record.

After you get the non-criminal record, you need to get it authenticated by United States Department of State and then send it to Chinese embassy for certification.
