I am INDIAN Passport holder visiting my son who is working in Hongkong on Work Permit. I am considering visiting Shenzhen and Guangzhou by train/ bus for 1/2 days.

You do not need the entry permit for HK, but need the entry permit for mainland China. You can go to the CAVSC office in India and submit the following documents: a valid passport, a photocopy of the passport's data page, a filled application form with your recent bare-headed color photo, and proofs showing your itinerary to mainland.
