Doubts on Chinese New Year

I am wonder, why this peoples don't celebrate the New Year in January 1 as all the globe do it. Is so weird they are sleeping on 31 December night and is so quiet anywhere. Chinese believe in stories too much.

Aylin, it's because Chinese people has their own calendar called lunar calendar before the solar calendar was intoduced into China. They celebrate the New Year that falls on Jan. 1 according to their lunar calendar. Lunar calendar is mostly used by Han people. Some ethnic groups have their own calendars. So they celebrate their New Year on different dates.
