when did the chinese start to wear head dresses and why

im am researching traditional clothing for a project in social studies

It's said that the Chinese hats were invented by Yellow emperor over 5,000 years ago. It was used to indicate social status; only the emperor and highly-rank officials could wear a hat back then.

Sedra, cheongsam has very high requirements on women's statures. Those who have good statures look beautiful when they wear cheongsam. It's unsuitable for those plump girls to wear cheongsam.

More importantly, cheongsam isn't popular today. Young girls prefer to wear South-Korean and Western style clothes. It's fashion.
