Bullet rail from Tongxiang to Beijing

Hi from USA, my husband and I are going to spend our holidays in China this coming April. One of our itinerary is to have overnight stay at Wuzhen and traveling to Beijing the next day from Tongxiang. We want to spend more time in the morning at Wuzhen and wondering what will be our best option if we want to leave around 13:00 pm. Is there any direct rail in the afternoon? It appears we can take ride from Tongxiang to Shanghai and then from Shanghai to Beijing South, we are wondering 40 min. gap between the train is adequate or not? Thanks!

There is no direct one available in the afternoon, to connect at Shanghai would be a good choice. But 40min for the connection is a little short, you need at least 1 hour. If you still need time for the ticket collection etc. 90min would be better.

Thanks for the info Eric. I saw two trains that suite my schedule, one with 40 min. gap and the other with 83 min. I'm planning to buy the ticket online and have them delivered to the hotel. With ticket in hands, I assume 83 min. gives me enough time to transfer trains, will 40 min. still possible in this case or it's too big of a risk?

i think 40min' is too risky for transit in between. You need to get off the first one and then re-entry the station again.
