China in July

Hi. We will be traveling three weeks in China in july this year, and would like to have one of those weeks whit relaxation. We are looking at Sanya(Hainan), but are not sure if it's the right place to visit in summertime? If not is there a place to recommend along the coast?
We are landing in Hong Kong and wish to visit Shanghai and Beijing.
