Duty free + alcohol purchased in home country

If I am bringing less than 1.5 litres of alcohol into China in my luggage, can I then buy more from duty free at the airport/on the plane? Or does that take me over the limit?

Annie, you can take 1.5L liquor in your checked luggage. And it's ok for you to buy alcohol at the duty-free shops. Usually, you can buy two bottles (1.5L). However, you needn't put them in your checked luggage. It's ok for you to bring them on board.
