About:China Private Visit Visa

The son of my boss will come to Beijing to visit with his S2 Visa on 12th March

but his S2 type will be expired at 24th July. The question is that should he extend his S2 type in his base country, UK, or should he extend it in Beijing after he entering China? Or both places will work for his case? And which way would be more convenient and easier to conduct?

He can only extend it in China. However, it is not guaranteed that he will certainly be approved of the extension.

If he apply for the extension outside China, the embassy will ask him to apply for a new entry permit rather than extend the current one.
