In the early time, workers just rammed earth to build the wall. Stone and wood were also usd. During Han Dynasty, plants such as reed and rose willow were added to make the wall more stronger. These materials can be found at the sites of the walls in Gansu. During the Ming Dynasty, bricks were burnt to build the wall. And they also added lime, glutinous rice and other materials to make the wall stand still.
