what is the best way to get to Chinese consulate?

Hello I will be staying at a hotel in Newark New Jersey. Trying to find out what would be the best way to get to the consulate in New York

John, can you tell which state you are from? You know, US citizens are required to apply from the consulate that has jurisdiction in your area, according to Chinese embassy.

Actually I work on a cruise ship and when I am not on the cruise ship I am living in Portugal, but because I am only there two months at a time I can not get a residence permit from there. Before I started working on the ships I was living in Florida. At the moment the only ID I would have to show them would be my passport because my Florida drivers license has expired.
