About:China Visa on Arrival

VOA for Macau from Hongkong

Hi. I will be traveling with my mother from China to HongKong by road. I have a US passport but my mother is a Pakistani national. Although she has got a visa for Hongkong but it is single entry one and we want to visit Macau as well. So is it possible to get one from Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Hongkong for Macau. We only want to visit Macau for a day? Also, how can we return to Hongkong if we go to Macau because my mother has a single entry one for Hongkong and we will go back to China via Hongkong?

Anna, I am afraid that your mom can't apply in mainland China because she even't doesn't have a Chinese visa. You just said she helds one for HK. According to the Macau authorities, Pakistanis are required to apply from Chinese embassy in their country in advance before they go to Macau. So I am afraid that it's almost impossible for her to apply in HK.

No, my mother has a multiple entry Chinese visa as well as a single entry visa for Hongkong.

I suggest you try to apply for the entry permit for Macau at the Exit and Entry Administration Bureau in mainland, go to Macau first and then go to Hong Kong, then back to mainland, so that you don't need to apply for the HK entry for a second time.
