Melli, your zodiac sign is decided by your date of birth calculated based on Chinese lunar calendar. The zodiac signs are created to help people number the years. In ancient times, Chinese people created "heavenly stems and earthly branches" to number the years. However, it's difficult for people to remember every year. As a result, twelve animals are selected to represent 12 years. And each animal year repeats every 12 years. It's much easier to number the years in this way.
