Do you hold a certificate for study, work or residence in Italy? Or is the remained validity of your entry permit is more than six months? If not, you cannot apply for it at the CVASC in Milano. You can get contact with the CVASC in Rome and confirm whether you can apply there. If not, you have to apply it in the UK.

Many thanks for your reply. No I am only here for a few weeks on "holiday". I shall return to UK and take care of it there. I was hoping to fly direct from Italy.
I appreciate you spending the time to reply. Have a great day.
