Taking RMB out of China (into Thailand)

Hi guys,

I'd like to transfer 20,000RMB back to England when I get to Thailand for holiday.

I know the limit to take out of China is 20,000RMB - would it be possible to take 22,000RMB out, just so I have enough for holiday in Thailand as well?

I'm just worried that declaring such a small amount over and above 20,000RMB will mean a huge amount of forms to fill in etc.

Dave, I don't think you have to take so much money. It's easy for you to use your credit cards or withdraw your money from the ATMs in Thailand. The exchange rate isn't very bad. If you carry much more than CNY 20000, you may have a problem when you go through the immigration checkpoint.
