About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

work permit to residence permit

I am married to a chinese citizen and currently on a work permit. My permit will run out in march. Is it possible to switch from my work permit and apply for a spouse residence permit while in China?

As far as I'm concerned, you should first go to the local PSB and confirm whether you can change your Z type to Q type. If not, you have to leave China before the Z type expires and apply for a Q type outside of mainland China. Only after you get a Q type, can you apply for a spouse residence permit.
