About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

When would my new visa start?

I applied for a Chinese L type extension yesterday (Dec 23) and got a "receipt". The officer said she can only give me 2 weeks extension since my first one only allowed me to stay for 14 days in China. I appealed and asked her if she can give me a 30-day extension because my return flight is on the 18th of January. She said "2 weeks only". The officer said I should claim my passport on the day written on the paper - January 04 2015 (Sunday, they must be closed, right?) There's also 160 RMB fee written in there. Lastly, she said it's not yet sure.

Note: My current one will expire on December 27.

So, my questions are: When should I pay for this extension? How? When would the new one start? Should I rebook my return ticket?

Hi kate!
First, I need to tell you that according to the Chinese public holiday arrangment for 2015, the Exit-entry Administration Bureau is open on January 4, so it is ok for you to claim your passport at the office and pay for the extension on that day.

Second, the new one will take effect just after your previous expires. The time length of its validity is calculated from December 28. Therefore, you have to rebook a return ticket with a scheduled date before January 11.

Do you think I can get a shenzen visa right after I exit china?

My flight ticket home would be on the 18th via HK.

According to the latest information I know, Philippines are not eligible to get a VOA. You can contact the immigration at Luohu Border to confirming this issue.
