About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Asked by Carlos from Mexico--72 hour visa free transfer

My wife and I arrive on Shanghái (from Mexico) on Jan 25th by 07:45AM and leave to Singapore on Jan 28th at 10AM(same airport Pudong) so we are within the limits of the 72 hours. Tickets are confirmed and bought already.
Can we get the permit for the 72 hours upon arrival? I have contacted the airline that we are flying to arrive in Shanghai and they tell me that they do not do/process these requests.

Besides that, I guess that we are ok and meet the requirements

Thanks

Carlos, you are eligible for 72 hours free transit in Shanghai. The usual process is that you inform your airline you plan to make use of 72 hours free transit at least 30 minutes before it lands at the airport. Then your airline informs the airport. After you land at the airport, you can follow the instructions to apply for the 72 hours free transit.

Well, I think you may try to find related information on 72 hours free transit on the website of Chinese embassy in your country and then try to let them know about the policy. If they still don't say No, then I am afraid that you need to apply for a G type in advance.
