About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

Quickest method to obtain tourist visa

I'm a Sri Lankan passport holder with Australian PR living in Melbourne. I would like to visit Hong Kong for a week with my family. Should I send application directly to Hong Kong or submit it to Toorak office? Do I need to hand in my passport when submitting the application? How long does it take? Is there a possibility of expediting the process. Please advise. Thank you.

Since you just go to HK for visiting, you can try to apply a Transit/Visit type through the consulate in Toorak. The passport is needed for the application.
You can consult the consulate whether they have the right to issue you the Transit/Visit type. If they have the right, you will get your Transit/Visit type in four working days. If no, it takes around 4 weeks.
