About:Mount Huashan

Hua Shan in Winter

Hi there!
We are going to Hua Shan in Dec. We want to (1) hike all 4 peaks and (2) walk the infamous Plank Walk and (3) watch Sunrise/sunset. We can stay 1night on the mountain.

Would you advise:
- is there a hostel on the mountain suitable?
- is the plank walk open in winter?
- route to take or sequence of peak to hike? (cable car would be good)

I. I just know the Dongfeng Hotel on the East Peak and the Xifeng Hotel on the West Peak.
2. It is hard to say. If it snows heavily, it would be closed for the sake of safety.
3. It should be five peaks instead of four. And it is safer to take cable car up and down, because it may snow on the mountain in Dec. The route should be: take cable car to North Peak and then hike to Middle Peak and then East Peak. Stay for a night at East Peak. On the next day, hike to South Peak and then West Peak. After that, take cable car from the West Peak down.
