It's suggested to take a train from Guangzhou to the destination. There are two trains between these two places every day.
Train no. K229: The ticket fare of soft sleeper is CNY285 and hard sleeper is CNY190.
Train no. K297: The soft sleeper is CNY351 and the hard sleeper is CNY239.

Or you can take a direct long-distance bus at East Bus Station (near East Railway Station) or Fangcun Bus Station to your destination. The bus fare shall be CNY230 or around and it takes 9-10h to arrive. By the way, the buses are equipped with sleepers.

Within the city, of course, the cheapest transportation is city bus. Or you can also take a ferry in XM.
