postage calc china to australia

Question

Hi,  I want to have a parcel sent from China to Australia. It is 0.12cubic meter, and weighs less than 10 kg (approx 8 kg). I calculated it as a large parcel, via China Post, and it comes to less than AUD47 (approx CNY246). The sender tells me more than double. Am I missing something? Are there extra charges I missed? I would like some direction here, please. Thanks. Tony.

Tony, I calculated the cost on the China Post website. It costs around CNY633.80 by air, CNY491 by SAL and CNY 193 by ship. If you choose to ship your parcel from China to Australia, it takes 2 or 3 months to arrive.
