change from work visa to student type

Hello, I am a teacher in China and therefore on a Zand the company is being a bit of a nightmare. I study part time and wondered if I can just quit my job and change it to a X type? I have my own residence permit and passport (I was recommended by a friend to keep hold of that!)

Help will be much appreciated !

You will not work any more?
If so, you may need to apply for a student X type (probably X2 for your situation) for your part-time job. Changing it in China may be impossible if you change it on your own based on the current information. If you really want to change, you can find an agency to help you or you are suggested to goto HK for a new application directly. After you quit the job, you can hardly hold your current resident permit.

thanks for your reply. I read that now you have to go to your homecountry to get a china permit, but unsure if that is for getting a new one from scratch. Do you know if just changing current one is acceptable in hong kong?

I saw many UK people changed their previous types to a new type in HK through some local tour agencies, so you can have a try. In order to make sure, you can find some tour agency online and consult with them. After they confirm, then you can go.
