If your total stay in Guangzhou and Beijing (including the duration on the plane from Guangzhou to Beijing) is less than 24 hours, you needn't apply for any type. However, you are required to apply for a stay permit when you arrive in Guangzhou. Otherwise, you should apply for a transit type in advance.
