Can I cancel my one year visa six days before expiry and apply for a new one year type?

I currently hold a one year multiple entry type that will expire in December. I will be back in Thailand in December and wish to submit application for another one year type. Can I cancel my one year type six (6) days ahead of expiry date so that I may apply for a new one year?

It is not necessary to cancel it. You can just go to the embassy to apply a new one and the embassy will consider the real situation to issue you a new one.
