Can i Cross from Lang Son in Vietnam into China to go to Guilin?

My daughter and I would like to go from Vietnam into southern China for one and half week. We want to go to Guilin and YangShuo area. Can we cross from Vietnam by land? Is transport available (trains, buses) from the border town to Nanning/Guilin? Please advise asap. Thanks

Yes, you can. I just know there is bus connection between Nanning and Hanoi, so you may have to transfer from Lang Son to Hanoi first and then transfer to another bus to Nanning. After that, you can take a bullet train to Guilin.

Thanks, Coco. That sounds like a very long ride from Hanoi to Nanning…

I found in the 'China Travel Guide' website that there are trains from Pingxian (border Crossing near Long San) to other places in China including Guilin. There are actually overnight trains from Pingxian to Guilin and other places.

I would love to get an overnight train, but...

What has me very troubled is the information added in their site: very problematic to buy tickets online beforehand as the names in english are not recognised because of spaces and other stuff…

So I don't know HOW to get the overnight tickets, as they sell out quickly in advance… and apparently foreigners have to get them at the train station to be sure...

If anyone has any knowledge on this I am most grateful.
