About:China Student Visa
I am a US citizen, can I go to China on L tourist and change to X2 in Shanghai?Where do I go for X2?

According to the latest rules, it is almost impossible to get your L change to X2 in China. You are suggested to apply for a X2 directly before you go to China.1

Hi, you can change the tourist type into a student X2 type without leaving if your school can do it for you. Obviously the entry permit is given by the authorities but some schools can contact them and pay an agency to do it for you. You just need to pay them for it, 350 yuan was a price I paid. :) Good luck!0
