About:

We are staying near the temple on yuanyong street and need to get to kunming airport.

what bus route do you advise we take?

I am wondering whether you refer to the Yuantong Temple on Yuantong Street. If so, you can take a taxi to KM North Railway Station in 5-8min. You can take express bus line 1 nearby (close to Xiongye Hotel) to the airport directly in around 40min.
