About:China Private Visit Visa

What is the best visa for my fiance?

I have a Z and we want to live in China together for at least 1 year but he doesn't have a job yet.

It does not matter that he does not have job. He can applies for a S1 to live with you for over 180 days in China. He cannot work if he has a S1.

Thank you! What supporting documentation would we need? We obviously don't have a marriage certificate or anything like that yet

Sorry for not noticing that you do not have a marriage certificate. Without that, your fiance cannot apply for a S1. For this situation, he can only try apply a multiple enter Tourist L. Then he may stay in China for a long time.

Ok thank you very much. Would it be possible to apply for an S under private matters? Or do you definitely need proof of marriage/kinship for any S?

A marriage certificate/kinship certificate is definitely needed for applying S no matter what kind of purpose you apply it.
