What is best for me Q2 or Tourist?

I am US citizen married to a Chinese citizen. My wifes parents live in China.
In the past I have applied for 1 year, multiple entry type.
However I have heard that it is possible to get a 2 year, or even in some cases a 3 or 5 year, multiple entry type.
Which visa would give me the best chance for a 2 or more year, multiple entry type, a Q2 or Tourist type?
If Q2, do I have to prove I am visiting my parents in law every time I go to China?
