do i need a visa to enter Beijing if after BJ I am going to Hong Kong

after HK I will be going back to the USA. What do you think

In general, you need to have a single entry Tourist L to visit Beijing.
However, would you mind tell me more information about your traveling? You leave from which place to Beijing and how long will you stay in Beijing?
